T. & A.V. R. [1969 - 1982]
Abbreviation: EM(TAVR)
On the 1st April 1967 the Territorial Army and the Army Emergency Reserve were reorganised into the Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve, to reflect this change the Efficiency Medal Territorial and Efficiency Medal (Army Emergency Reserve) were discontinued and replaced by the Efficiency Medal (T. & A.V.R.) by Royal Warrant 2nd June 1969. This change also introduced a new ribbon with equal blue and green stripes and a yellow border stripe on each side, the blue from the EM(AER), green from the EM(T) and the yellow stripes from both. The first awards of the EM(TAVR) were announced in List No. 82,1969.

Members of the Army Emergency Reserve or the Territorial Army who were now serving in the Territorial Army and Volunteer Reserve (TAVR) and had earned their either an EM(T) or an EM(AER) who then completed another 6 years of service were awarded the clasp to the respective medal, if they then completed a further 6 years in the TAVR they then became eligible for the EM(TAVR) and the award of the last clasp awarded was cancelled in Army Orders and the EM(TAVR) medal was awarded. Examples of both the EM(T) or an EM(AER) with EM(TAVR) can be found below:

Efficiency Medal Territorial pair with Efficiency Medal Territorial & Army Volunteer Reserve
This ability to earn two different EM's was not repeated when the Efficiency Medal Territorial (1982) was introduced, those who already held a EM(TAVR) and continued to serve were awarded additional clasps to their EM(TAVR).

It is also worth noting that after 1982 the naming style of these medals changed and all the full stops were dropped. More information on naming here

On the 23rd April 1951 the men of 1 KOSB landed at Inchon in South Korea to take over from 1 A&SH. The Bn, around 60% were National Servicemen. The Borderers were almost immediately sent into action without any of their heavy weapons and equipment. Each man was issued only 20 rounds and as they moved towards KAPYONG just South of the 38th parallel they engaged the enemy during a large Chinese offensive in which the Gloucester's were fighting their famous defensive action.
The Borderers learned quickly how to deal with a determined enemy in very harsh terrain with extremes of temperature. Prior to deployment the Commanding Officer had ensured the Bn was trained to peak fitness and battle discipline. The Borderers remained in Korea until 12 August 1952.
The Borderers suffered 64 Borderers killed in action and 218 wounded in action. The gallantry of the Bn was recognised with the award of 1 VC, 5 DSOs, 5 MCs, 3 DCMs, 12 MMs, 24 MiDs.

The Inns of Court & City Yeomanry was formed in 1961 and until 1967 served as an armoured car regiment. The reorganisation of the TA in 1967 reduced the regiment to an infantry company, and became A Company (Inns of Court and City Yeomanry) of the London Yeomanry and Territorials.
In 1968, the London Yeomanry and Territorials was disbanded and a cadre of the regiment became a part Royal Armoured Corps. This was a very small unit of only 3 officers and 5 other ranks but this kept the Regiment's name in the Army List. Personnel from A Company were then used to form 68 (Inns of Court and City Yeomanry) Signal Squadron, in the newly formed 71 (Yeomanry) Signal Regiment.
