Territorial (1982) [1982 - 2000]
Abbreviation: EM(T)(1982)
On the 7th April 1982 the Reserve Forces Act changed the name of the Territorial & Army Volunteer Reserve back to the Territorial Army. To reflect the name change the Efficiency Medal Territorial (1982) was created, this retained the the half blue and half green, edged in yellow ribbon created for the EM(TAVR). The first awards of the EM(T)(1982) were announced in List 134, 1982.
Unlike the transition from the the original EM(T) and EM(TAVR) there were no arraignments for those who already held the EM(TAVR) to also be awarded the EM(T)(1982) after completing 6 years additional service, instead those holders of the EM(TAVR) continued to earn additional clasps to the EM(TAVR) when completing additional periods of 6 years.
Following the introduction of the Volunteer Reserve Service Medal (VSRM) in 1999 these who then completed another 5 years of service were awarded the clasp to the EM(TAVR), if they then completed a further 5 years in the Reserves, they then became eligible for the VSRM and the award of the last clasp awarded to the Efficiency Medal (TAVR) was cancelled in London Gazette and the award of the VSRM was announced in the same London Gazette. an example of such an award can be found here

This EM(T)(1982) is virtually identical to the EM(T) EIIR 2nd Type issued between 1953 and 1969, the obvious difference is the ribbon, half blue and green with yellow edges, that was first used with the EM(TAVR). The other main deference is that there are no full stops in the naming, care should be taken as some late awards of the original EM(T) have been seen with this style of naming.
The recipients number will also give some idea of enlistment date. The awards of the EM(T)(1982) were announced in Ministry of Defence Lists from List 134, 1982 until 1998 when awards were published in the London Gazette.

The Q prefix on the service number denotes that Adcock enlisted in the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps, probably enlisting in around 1983. As men were not enlisted in the QARANC until 1992, Adcock is defiantly female making this a scarce group.
